Before & After Master Bedroom

Thursday, June 17, 2010

Unfortunately we have no pictures of the original paint colour or window coverings. This project was completed in stages and our before pictures were taken after the painting was complete and the window coverings installed. We painted the walls Benjamin Moore HC-80 Bleeker Beige. The drapery hardware was purchased from Home Outfitters in oil rubbed bronze. The fabric for the drapes was purchased from Mitchell Fabrics and coordinates with the paint colour. The closet opening was also covered with fabric, adding softness to the room. Larger and fluffier pillows were added to give the head of the bed more substance and interest. One set of pillows were covered in the shams from the duvet set and the other set with the pillow cases from the sheet set. The original bed skirt coordinated nicely with new duvet cover and a single pillow case in a coordinating fabric was purchased for the remaining pillow.

The outdated bedroom furniture set was refinished in Benjamin Moore CC-710 Mount Saint Anne to coordinate with the new bedding and the hardware was replaced with chrome knob and pulls from Lee Valley.

Clutter was removed and plants were added to breathe life into the room. The lamps with lantern side lights were purchased from Robinson Lighting. Candlestick lamps, bedding, art and all other accessories were purchased from HomeSense.

Before & After Bathroom

Wednesday, June 16, 2010

We selected new light fixtures from Robinson Lighting to go throughout the residence in an antiqued brown finish, coordinating the finish of the lights with other oil rubbed bronze finishes throughout the home. Oil rubbed bronze finishes in the bathroom include the new sink  faucet, toilet paper holder, towel bar & robe hook from Price Pfister’s Ashfield collection.

The cosmetics cabinet clashed with the wood finish of the vanity so we painted it, Benjamin Moore 2111-60 Barren Plain, and gave it a distressed finish.

The mirror was replaced by a smaller framed mirror to match the wood finish of the vanity. The old medicine cabinet was removed and the hole in the wall behind it patched. The walls were painted Benjamin Moore 2112-50 Stormy Monday. The trim & ceiling were painted, Benjamin Moore 2109-60 Portland Gray, to pick up on the colour tones found in the existing laminate flooring.

Painting the cosmetics cabinet in a light colour gives the vanity more visual impact and ties in nicely with the art, accessories and white plumbing fixtures throughout the space. Placing a few accents in bright pink adds a pop of colour and gives the space interest. All accessories, towels and artwork were purchased from HomeSense.
